KVIC Secures Trademark Registrations in Bhutan, UAE And Mexico.

News: Recently the Khadi and Village Industry Commission (KVIC) was successful in securing the brand name “KHADI” in Bhutan, UAE, and Mexico. To date, KVIC has secured the trademark registration for “Khadi” in countries like Germany, Australia, The UK, China, Russia, and the European Union. But after its success in UAE, KVIC has achieved a milestone in securing registration in a Gulf country. Read News Here

Apart from these, the KVIC’s trademark applications are pending in many other countries,40 countries to be precise which includes the USA, Sri Lanka, Japan, Italy, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Brazil, etc. So, with 3 new countries adding to its list, the KVIC now has a trademark registered in a total of 9 countries. In these countries, the KVIC can now be able to sell Khadi fabric, garments, and village industry products like Khadi soaps, household items, incense sticks, and many other products. With these registrations, the misuse of the word Khadi in these Countries can be reduced to a great extent.

About KVIC:

The Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) is a statutory body that took over the work of the former All India Khadi and Village Industries Board established by an Act of Parliament in 1956, amended in 1987 and 2006.

Shri. Vinai Kumar Saxena is the current Chairman of KVIC.

Its Objectives are

Social – to provide Employment.
Economic – to produce Selleable Articles.
To make the poor self-reliant and
To build a strong community spirit.

Its Functions include:

Planning, promoting, organising and implementing programs for the development of Khadi and other village industries in the rural areas with the help of other industries working towards development of rural areas.
To build up of a reserve of raw materials for its supply to the producers and manufacturers.
To promote the marketing and sale of khadi products/ goods and handicrafts.
To promote and encourage research in production techniques and equipments used.
Further, the KVIC is given the task of providing financial assistance to organisations and individuals for development and operation of KVIC and related activities.
Also its the responsibility of KVIC to guide these institutions and individuals through supply of designs, prototypes and other technical information for enhanced production.
