About Operation Sankalp.

It is the initiative by the Indian Navy to protect Indian Vessels in the turbulent region of the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman. This particular step was taken to ensure that Indian Vessels are safe and secure and they do not get affected due to the tensions in the region as witnessed during the recent maritime incidents, where 2 US oil tankers were destroyed. The United States considers Iran to be behind the attack.
Two Indian Navy Ships INS Chennai and INS Sunayna are deployed with the responsibility to safeguard the Indian vessels in the Gulf region. Moreover, as an additional security measure, the Information Fusion Centre of the Indian Ocean region also keeps a watch on the vessel movement.
